BELIEVE, DO, ACHIEVE...REPEAT

The foundation of motivation is belief.  There’s no argument against that.  In fitness, to achieve your goals, then it certainly starts with a belief that you can.  As a fitness professional, nothing is more upsetting than to listen to a person say they need to “think about it” before they begin a fitness program.  What is there to think about?  Choose to BELIEVE that you can, and begin that program today!  Stop procrastinating.

Next step is to actually DO SOMETHING!  Find the program that will be the most effective tool to get you to your goal in a safe, timely and efficient manner.  “Do” consistently and use a method that will allow you to measure progress.  As a trainer, one of my biggest pet peeves is the trend towards, let’s call it hyper-variety of types of exercises within any one fitness genre.  How can you measure progress if you are told to do a different workout with different exercises every time you come to the gym?  That is bad advice.  I’ll save that rant for another blog post.  Just know that you need to DO a program consistently every week and stay within a reasonable pattern of “sameness”.

If you DO a routine with relentless regularity, then you will get to the next step which is to ACHIEVE.  Don’t bask in the glory for too long, though.

Now it’s time to REPEAT.  BELIEVE, DO, ACHIEVE…REPEAT.

This is the fitness cycle of success, for sure.  It sounds so easy, but we all know better.  It’s simple but not easy.  Of course, as the old saying goes, “Nothing in life worth having is easy”.  True that!!!  Just keep repeating to yourself, BELIEVE, DO, ACHIEVE, over and over again.

Never stop!
